Each year The GreenHouse participates in the Big Day of Giving, a 24-hour giving challenge hosted by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation to bring the local community together and raise funds and awareness for nonprofits. This year Big Day of Giving 2019 is on May 2nd. Here's everything you need to know!
What is Big Day of Giving (BDOG)?
Big Day of Giving is a 24-hour online giving challenge designed to encourage financial giving to nonprofits. It shines light on what local organizations are doing, and helps build momentum and support.
Why does The GreenHouse participate in BDOG?
Individual and family donors provide 70% of our annual budget. We are a community-supported, community-driven organization that relies on the generosity of donors like YOU to sustain our work with youth and families!
How does it work?
Beginning at midnight on Thursday, May 2, giving is "open" for 24 hours. BDOG has its own website, and you donate through The GreenHouse's page on that website. Here's the link to The GreenHouses's BDOG donation page.
Is there a matching grant this year?
Yes! The Ken and Lynn Hall Family Fund and the Thomas P. Winn Foundation have graciously donated $18,000 in matching funds for BDOG. When you donate on May 2, every dollar you donate will be doubled, up to $18,000!
What if I'm interested in donating, but busy on May 2?
There will be a "schedule a donation" option on The GreenHouse BDOG donation page starting April 15th. You can set up a donation in advance, and it will run on May 2 as a part of BDOG.
What's the best time of day to donate?
We find that donating early in the day helps generate momentum. If you schedule a donation, it will be processed at midnight, right as BDOG starts - that will help us get going! Donating in the morning - 6-9am - is also a great boost.
Anything else I should know?
If you use a Golden 1 card for BDOG, The GreenHouse will receive an ADDITIONAL donation from Golden 1!
Thank you so much for your support!
Give where your heart is on May 2!
