Staff Kacie Stratton is the founder and Executive Director of The GreenHouse. Kacie began volunteering in the Ninos Park community in 2001 when she read an article in the Sacramento Bee describing the neighborhood, the number of kids living there, and the need for positive role models to give the kids the love and attention they deserve. In response to this article Kacie, Rose Adamson, and a team of volunteers from Sanctuary Covenant Church began going to Ninos Park on Saturdays to put on kids’ clubs which included: games, Bible stories, crafts, singing, and snack. Within a few months, Kacie and the volunteers felt God’s call to do something more in the neighborhood. He gave Kacie a vision for a holistic community center where the kids and their parents could come to be nurtured and to realize their full potential. In July 2002, The GreenHouse, a nonprofit organization was born; and in February 2003, The GreenHouse opened the doors of its first after-school program. Before working in this community, Kacie worked in disadvantaged communities in Mexico, San Jose, downtown Sacramento, and Romania. Kacie graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.S. in Human Development and from the University of the Pacific with a M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology. She lives in the neighborhood of The GreenHouse with her husband Steve and sons Jonah, Nicolas, and Riley. Tim Coburn is the Director of Youth Programs for The GreenHouse. Tim has been involved with various ministries and churches in the Sacramento area, including: Youth for Christ, East Valley Church, and Redeemer Covenant Church. He currently attends Mars Hill Church in Natomas where he and his wife, Vanessa, assist with the new internship program for college students. Tim grew up in Folsom, a suburb of Sacramento and graduated from Trinity Life Bible College with a degree in Ministerial Arts. Tim and his wife currently live in the downtown area, where they have developed a desire to work with low-income families. Tim and his wife Vanessa recently moved to Natomas and have a new baby named Miles. Cara Maffini is the Evergreen Intern at The GreenHouse. Cara first came to The GreenHouse as a volunteer at our Adventure Zone Day Camp in July 2005. She quickly fell in love with the kids and returned that fall as a Fun Friday volunteer. She’s been volunteering regularly ever since, and is excited for her new role as an Intern. Cara started working with kids in high school as a camp counselor for underprivileged kids from San Jose. Cara quickly recognized the value of camp: taking kids out of the daily challenges they face and giving them a safe place to explore their identity as a child of God. Cara graduated from the University of California, Davis in June 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. In January 2007, she will pursue a Masters in Psychology at Sacramento State in order to become a Clinical Child Psychologist. Board of Directors
